[/i]. This was not happening. This was not happening. Where was everyone? Where was she? The dark-haired girl was sure there had to be someone around. But there was no one, not even some random tumbleweed dared show its face on the deserted street. Somewhere farther off the girl heard fighting or yelling but there was nothing here. No sound, no nothing. Gemma peeked out from behind the corner of the wall she was at and stole a furtive glance around. The Wall Mart was right there! But ‘right there’ was across the street. Even though the street was empty, Gemma had a horrible feeling about it. Like… like the butchers were waiting for her. Her stomach gurgled, but the girl did not listen. Instead, she slammed her back against the hard brick wall of the building and slid slowly down. Then she hid her head in her hands. She was twenty-one but still had the thoughts of a seventeen-year old or less on some aspects of the world because the world had ended when she was young… that and she hadn’t been with many people since then. “Ohhhh,” she declared with a sharp intake of breath, “Ohhhhh, Chloe, where are you?” ' I'm so alone and afraid!' She thought.[/ul]

This was her fifth venture above ground. She hated to admit that she didn't get out much, what with Topher's deteriorating mental state, and the actuals to care for. But in cases of apocalypse, one could not ignore the chance to go out and find food. Unfortunately when the Dollhouse was built a garden was not on the list of architectural requirements so when the robocall happened Adelle found herself with about fifty people six stories under ground and nothing to eat but a ton of those frakking bonsai trees that the dolls kept cutting, often with no idea of what they were doing.
In short, this was a food run. A much needed food and supply run. Echo and Paul went out quite a bit but they'd gone off in search of safe haven and who knew when they would be back. Anthony offered to go but he was supposed to be the first line of defense if the butchers decided to surprise them in a blitz attack. So Adelle volunteered to go out for food. She always going out for walks, though now the atmosphere of Los Angeles left something to be desired.
She roamed through the streets looking for something that hadn't been raided and didn't look ramshackle. There was a Wal-Mart across the street. She couldn't recall if this particular one sold much food, but she was certain that there had to be something useful within those walls, even if it was just a pair of fresh clothes. She was about to cross the street, but heard a quiet noise. It was the noise of something lurking in the shadows.
Looking around the area she saw that there was a girl standing a block down the street, and behind her...Oh bloody hell, butchers! Adelle thought raising her gun. What the hell was this girl doing roaming the city alone? Taking aim at the group of butchers Adelle shouted a warning.
GET DOWN!
