I loved season five. I don't even really know why I just love how Spike is all soft and sensitive in it and how it's kind of depressing and stuff too.

Ohhh hard question. I'm currently rewatching Buffy from beginning to end (again, having literally just finished Angel season five), so I can definitely tell you my thoughts on the ones I've watched most recently.
Season one was pretty much awful. It was good at introducing the characters, and Angel was super sexy, but other than "Angel" and a couple of scenes from some of the other episodes, I pretty much hated it.
I loved season two. Angel was more prominent (anyone care to take a guess at my favourite character? xD), there was Spike and Drusilla (yay!), and the whole Angelus arc, which I loved. Plus it had some of my favourite episodes - "Becoming" and "I Only Have Eyes For You". And omg the finale makes me cry every single time.
I'm currently in the middle of rewatching season three. I don't like it as much as season two, but it has some awesome stuff. Faith, who I really didn't like the first time around but grew to love with her later appearances and the stuff she did on Angel. Wesley will be arriving in the next few episodes, and I really, really love him. Spike's only in one episode, but he's absolutely friggin' amazing in it. Angel is amazing, going from entirely mad and feral (and omg hot) to that amazing scene in "Amends", which is why that episode is probably my favourite of all of them. Although, having watched season seven very recently, I'm very confused about why the First in "Amends" can touch Angel. I thought it was incorporeal? I really like all the Oz/Willow/Xander/Cordelia stuff going on, and this is the first season where I like Cordy - I pretty much hated her the first time I watched until the point where Xander and Willow kiss. But at the end of this season, Angel leaves, and that makes me wicked sad. But! He gets his own show, so not all bad. xD
Uhhh. Season four. Spike's back, which is awesomeness abound. I didn't really like it when the Scooby gang were at college, to be honest. I got used to it by the end, but I really missed Sunnydale High and the library, and I really felt that in this season in particular, Giles and Xander were soooo underused. I really hate Riley, but Anya's there regularly and I think Tara's first introduced in season four too, so yeah.
Season five. Oh dear, Dawn. I really didn't like the introduction of Dawn. It jarred so horribly and she wasn't even a nice person especially, and yeah. I really, really didn't like Dawn. Spike was awesome, though, and Riley left which made me happy xD. It was also so heartbreaking with all the Joyce stuff and Buffy sacrificing herself.
Six. I liked season six a lot. The Spike/Buffy stuff was awesome, especially how she turned to him for comfort when she couldn't tell her friends about the heaven thing. It had "Once More, With Feeling", which is probably the most awesome episode of any TV show ever. There's the heartbreaking stuff with Tara which made me cry sooo much. The only thing I didn't really like about this season was Spike's attempted rape, really, although it led into the quest which I did like.
Seeeeason seven. I hated the Potentials. Seriously. From being a show about this group of people we knew and loved, suddenly there were all these extra characters who I at least couldn't really care about, and there was less screen time for the characters that I actually wanted to see. I loved mad!Spike (because...I seem to like mad characters) and Andrew was just awesome. The stuff with Willow being too scared to use magic I didn't especially like, and there were some reeeally bad episodes, but it seems to be the season most people dislike most and I don't see that. Faith was awesome again, Spike was awesome, it had Nathan Fillion which really can't go wrong, and yeah, Buffy bugged me more than she does normally, but I really loved the stuff between her and Spike. And Angel returned, briefly, which made me happy although I didn't like the way that he and Buffy parted. And Spike saved the world, which I thought was great (and then yay, he was on Angel XD).
So, after that essay, I'd have to say that my favourite seasons were two and six.

Reasoning: Spike/Buffy. -coughcough-
I liked season Seven until the ending, and the potentials made me pissed, but Spike was luffly.

Arky I agree with you that that in Season Seven Spike was pretty amazing! But yeah the potentials were super annoying! I couldn't stand them at all. Like that's why I didn't like it as much. I mean the whole plot and idea of it is nice but overall the potentials just make it too annoying.
